Solar Sunrise

I love sunny days!!  Especially now our solar system is fully commissioned.  Eight solar collectors of pure glory heating the Palfery floors, domestic water, and Molly's nursery.  It's wonderful to come home on most days and have floors warm and take a hot bath knowing you haven't used a bunch of expensive gas to do it.

For those of you who don't know we started the solar project in October of 2007.  We did an initial installation of the control room which included a new high efficiency boiler, a new hot water tank and the controls for the solar system.  Needless-to-say there was a large plumbing effort to make it all happen. We also installed six solar panels on a ground mount which I had to build myself.  Digging holes for the water lines and the pillars for the ground mount was a real joy considering we live on a big slate of granite.  We finished that part of the project last December and had a fully functioning system.  Then this fall we decided to add an option (which we had planned on doing eventually) because Molly Anne was on her way and all of sudden heating her room became important.  So we added two additional solar collectors and an additional storage tank to the control room.  I also built a closet around the storage room to help insulate it in the winter since its located in the garage.   We got the final inspection completed last week by the county so its official.  We're "All done."
