Christmas Card 2007

Merry Christmas friends and family,

We have decided to publish our 2007 Christmas letter in the form of a blog update this year!

This year has been a journey filled with abundant blessing and provision from the Lord.

Through the Lord's grace, love and mercy we have made it through 2007 and are thrilled to see what the Lord has for us this coming year!

We started off the year with snow,snow and more snow - more snow than New Mexico has seen in almost 20 years! What a blessing - the West really needed the moisture and we thoroughly enjoyed our many "no school days" - a.k.a. days off from work, because there was so much snow! We were able to ski from our driveway to the many trails in the National Forest and our dogs, Jack & Mia enjoyed the fun too!

We have become active in our church here (Calvary Chapel - East Mtns) and Simon has begun leading Sunday morning worship, playing acoustic guitar and bass on occasion and I am working sound on a few Sunday's. It's been such a blessing to be able to get involved in a church as we don't plan on moving anytime soon! We also host a Sunday night "kinship"/ bible study and we have really enjoyed getting to know families in the church more.

The spring and summer evenings were filled with tennis for both of us. We were happy to be able to play on the same mixed doubles tennis team this year and Simon played on in a men's league & I enjoyed playing in a women's league. I played in a number of tournaments and the 4.0 Women's team that I played on, made it all the way to Nationals!! It's been great for us to get back into tennis and it's something that we have enjoyed doing together.

September was filled with uncertainty as we found out that I had a benign tumor in my neck. Although benign, it had to be removed as it was causing numbness and severe pain in my left arm. I was able to receive some great medical treatment at the Barrows Neurological Institute in Phoenix (Felisa's mom lives there) and I had surgery to remove the tumor on 12 November. We were beyond blessed to have the unconditional support of so many family and friends during this recovery and many of our dearest friends came to help out at the house. I am recovering at home until after the New Year when I will attempt to go back to work and await the Lord's direction on what will happen with my AF career.

As many of you know, Simon separated from the Air Force in September 2007 and is now working for a small defense contractor. We are thankful for the Lord's provision with a job for Simon that enables him to stay in Albuquerque until I can separate as well. He enjoys his new role in life and has loved growing his hair out!

As though we didn't have enough change in our lives, we opted to have a solar thermal water system installed on our home this fall/winter and to use the sun to heat the domestic hot water rather than using costly propane! We also had the carpet ripped out and decorative concrete put in so that the radiant floors in the living room and the bedroom can be heated by the sun as well. Solar technology is really quite amazing and we are anxious to get it up and running!

We were honored to be able to spend Thanksgiving with my mom - she came to help out around the house right after my surgery and it was so nice having her here. As I write this, we are awaiting the arrival of Simon's parents - John & Gillian for a few week's this Christmas. It will be so nice to end the year around family and friends!

As you can imagine, we are anxiously awaiting some sort of "normal" flow to resume in our household this coming year! We are blessed, thankful and privileged to have spent so much time with family and friends this year and we look forward to seeing more of you in 2008!
